Sunday Post #17

Posted 3rd June 2018 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 32 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I guess it’s officially winter now. We’ve had the heater on two nights in a row! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ It doesn’t help that our house is all tiles and wood floors, the temperature difference when you enter the house at the end of the day is noticeable; it’s like an ice box (which is fine for summer, not so much winter). Meh.

On Tuesday I’m going to see a plastic surgeon. It feels so weird to say that ๐Ÿ˜† it’s for a skin cancer that’s in an awkward place (on the side of my nose, I don’t want a dent in it!) If you didn’t know it was there, you wouldn’t be able to tell; it’s very small, I’m just really good at spotting them these days.

CURRENTLY READING
(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

I’ve actually been reading both of these for ages (my Goodreads challenge is looking so sad). It’s not that they’re bad books (the opposite, I enjoy them while I’m reading) I’m just struggling with sitting down and actually reading them.

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG

NEXT WEEK ON THE BLOG

I have no idea, but I’m hoping to do a review of some sort at least!

NEW ON MY SHELVES

I’m trying to get better at looking after myself. I do yoga really sporadically so am trying to make it more of a habit, and I have discovered Yin is my favourite type at the moment. It’s gentle enough I can do it without fearing I’m going to injure myself.

    • Haha I hope the weather levels out to a nice warmth for you then ๐Ÿ™‚ I really do wish we lived somewhere where it was just perfect all year round!

  1. I always hate it when it gets cold like that. Turning on the heater just brings home the fact that it’s heading for winter. ๐Ÿ™ Hopefully you don’t get too cold yet! And good luck with your appointment- hope it all goes well!

Ooh Mythos looks good! Give me all the mythology ha ha! And of course the Riordan book…

    • I think we’ve had the heater on every single day since we first turned it on. It’s like you break the seal and suddenly can’t live without it!

I’m looking forward to the Mythos book, it’s one of those I found by accident ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. It is getting really hot here. Hope you will enjoy your new books! And I hope everything goes well with the plastic surgery.

    Have a nice week!

  3. Good luck at the doctor, it’s good you have caught it and will take care of it. I had a possible pre-cancerous mole on my back years ago that I had removed. Enjoy your books and yoga ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. It seems my subscription to your blog didn’t work as I didn’t get an e-mail about this post. I tried to subscribe again, but I get an error message when I use the widget in your sidebar to subscribe :(.

It’s so strange to hear you talk about winter, while here it’s super warm. That does sound nice your house is cool in summer, but in winter that’s less good.

I hope you can find some more time to sit down with a book this week! That Yin Yoga book looks interesting. I don’t know as much about the different types tough, but this one does sound nice based on the book’s description. Have a great week!

    • Hi Lola, thank you for letting me know. That’s so weird ๐Ÿ™ I’ve just tried subscribing myself and it seems to be working. You aren’t showing up under ’email followers’ or ‘followers’ which seems to be if you have a WordPress Blog where you’d be.

Did you get a confirmation email the first time? Could you try subscribing again and let me know what the error you get is? Hopefully it was just a glitch last time, I know they’ve done an update since ๐Ÿ™

  5. I really want to switch out our carpeted floors, and that’s my husband’s one concern–cold floors. It doesn’t really get that cold here, so I don’t know what he’s complaining about. LOL I hope the appointment goes well. I understand what you mean about enjoying what you are reading, but having trouble sitting down to read them. I have been experiencing a bit of that lately too. Have a great week!

    • We got bamboo flooring in the bedrooms because it doesn’t feel as cold to the touch as traditional wood or tiles. But imo it still makes for a cold floor, nothing a rug can’t fix though (and you can change those when you get bored of them, unlike carpet lol)

  6. Cold makes me grumpy so I don’t envy you your temperatures right now! Good luck with the plastic surgeon. Definitely the way to go with anything on your face. Hopefully it’ll be a minor procedure. I can relate to your reading struggles. I’m at the same place right now. I read A Reference to Murder a little while ago and enjoyed it. Hope you are to! Have a great week!

  7. Holy shit it’s been freezing in Melbourne, we’ve had our heating on almost nightly for over a month now. Anything above five degrees is considered a warm night. It’s hit so suddenly though this year, I really hope it’s not the sign of a freezing and long winter.

Good luck with your appointment Bre! My mum had a spot removed from her nose several years ago and went under the knife so that it wasn’t noticeable. Her’s was right on the tip of her nose and looked like a tiny spot that just wouldn’t go away. A few weeks after it was removed and the swelling went down, she had basically no scarring. It’s amazing what they can do these days to minimalise surgical impact. Hope it goes well and please keep us updated darling โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ

    • We haven’t got that cold, but anything under 10 deserves the heater to be turned on. Unfortunately at work it’s like being inside a freezer on our floor (but where the executive offices are it’s like a tropical paradise, go figure!)

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ they did a skin graft on me and I’m impatiently awaiting Tuesday so the damned bandages can come off my face; they’re driving me nuts!

  8. Bleh, I hate the cold! Good luck at the plastic surgeon appt, hopefully they’ll do a great job! I know what you mean about how you’re enjoying the books when you pick them up but are still struggling to get reading done. I’ve been in that same kind of slump for a while.

  9. Oh gosh, my house is always freezing in the winter time. I have to stock up on allll the blankets. Good luck at the plastic surgeon. That’s good you’re able to see these things so they can take care of them, but I’m glad it’s nothing too big!!

I hope you find more time to read this month, since you ARE enjoying your books when you do read them.

    -Lauren

    • I totally used this winter as an excuse to buy new blankets haha I like a good blanket.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel like they put an awful lot of stitches in for such a small thing, but I’m yet to see them (they’re due to come out in a couple of days!)

  10. Oh no! Hope the appointment goes well. I understand the cold house well. Mine’s older and wood floors with a crawl space and…cold in the winter. Though way too hot right now.

    • Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ so far so good! I love a cool house in summer, but they are un-fun in winter. Why can’t we just have nice temperatures all year round?!
