Sunday Post #13

Posted 31st December 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 26 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve done one of these, that is my excuse for the amount of books that appear ๐Ÿ˜† I’ve not been around much due to internet issues, I have mobile broadband for emergencies but it’s not cheap so I’m trying to keep my usage low ๐Ÿ™ meh.

(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

I don’t usually read so many books at once, but Origin is a giant hardcover and I don’t like lugging them around. A Caribbean Mystery I’ve actually been reading forever but decided to finally hopefully finish it, and The Dead Girls’ Dance is on my Kobo for easy travel (um…I kind of ignored all my other books in favour of reading the first one, but that’s beside the point).

I shall be posting my resolutions either tomorrow or Tuesday. Not sure about anything else at this point.

Most of these were holiday sales or freebies ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. You sure did get some great books. Those cozies have caught my eye. And I often read more than one book at time. Especially when some are print and some are kindle. Enjoy your new reads and Happy New Year!

    • I find I get a bit muddled sometimes if I read more than one book at a time, but I guess these genres are so different there’s no chance of that happening lol

      Happy New Year!

  2. A caribbean Mystery looks like a fun read, I need to read Christie. The Rachel Caine books look fun too. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Internet issues- ugh. Hate those.

    Have a happy New Year!!

    • It is kinda fun but at the same time I’m finding it a bit slow. I usually have that trouble with classics though.

      Happy New Year! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. It’s good to take some time off internet sometimes though ๐Ÿ™‚ get your bearings for the new year. Besides, it’s summer over there, so you probably have some good weather ๐Ÿ™‚ getting stuck without internet in winter would probably be less enjoyable ๐Ÿ˜€
    Wishing you a wonderful 2018!

    • I feel like it’s been a forced detox haha although to be honest; I’ve not been offline all that much really. It’s just when I want to be, it doesn’t work *sigh*

      Happy New Year ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I always read two books at the same time, but separate them on device and moment I read them. I also got that HY Hanna book when it was free. Looks like you grabbed some good deals this week and neat you got some Christmas themed reads as well. I am looking forward to your resolutions post. Have a great week!

    • They are a wee big frustrating lol I know there’s worse things to deal with but I feel so cut off when our internet is on the fritz!

      Happy New Year ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Sorry to hear about the Internet issues. Hope that was short-lived. I got a kick out of seeing Glass Houses and The Dead Girls Dance. I read the entire Morganville Vampire series a couple years ago and was so hooked on it. I was so invested in those characters (Myrnin was a favorite). Hope you’re enjoying it! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’m waiting for our ISP to either fix the issue or move us to a new type of connection; whichever comes first!

The Morganville Vampires series is good fun so far ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m looking forward to continuing it!

  6. I feel you on the internet issues. Didn’t realize Dan Brown had a new one nor Agatha Christie set in the Caribbean, where I live. Hope you enjoy.

    • I forgot he had a new one coming out too until it arrived on my doorstep (the joy of preorders lol)

      I hope you’re having a good week ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I hope your internet has got itself together, we’ve been having a lot of drop outs and slow loading lately through Telstra NBN. Our contract is long up with them so shopping for a new provider. The guy on the Holiday Bites cover is a bit worrying, he looks furious that someone put him in a children’s sized Santa hat that’s too small for his unusually sized head. I’m going to pretend that’s what that book is really about.

    • It got fixed today ๐Ÿ™‚ we’re apparently porting over to NBN tomorrow though (we got technicians out as I was worried our copper line may have corroded given the age of the house; but it had somehow been disconnected at the exchange ๐Ÿ˜ ) One of my cats trapped one of the guys in our study. Puffed himself up like a balloon and was hissing and carrying on apparently, the poor guy was terrified (when Dad told me I had to laugh because lol our tabby is a jerk).

Our contract with Telstra was up 2 years ago ๐Ÿ˜† they sent us a free NBN connection kit so I thought why not, no new contract or anything. I really wanted to change to Aussie Broadband as they have local support (not 24/7 though) and a great reputation *sigh* hopefully we’ll move away from Telstra eventually, but I’ll let them get us through the hassle of setting it up. Have you checked out the Whirlpool forums? There’s lots of info on ISPs…and lots of opinions!

Maybe that’s what the book really IS about ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
