Sunday Post #12

Posted 17th December 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 42 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

This week has been a struggle. I went to a funeral yesterday (Saturday); it wasn’t for someone I knew personally, but the husband of a colleague. And it was rough. Fuck cancer, is all I have to say.

The one good thing that did happen (for me) was my favourite show came back. It’s the little things, and The Librarians really does take me to a happy place.

Aside from that, the weather cannot make up its mind and it’s giving me a headache. I wish it’d pick one setting and stick to it! We’re going from normal summer days to storms and rain and winter temperatures, it’s weird. I had a nap this afternoon (uh, Saturday, I wrote this in the evening oops) just to get away from my headache ๐Ÿ™

  1. I hear ya’ on the not having a blog plan for the rest of the year. All I keep thinking is I need to publish a few Challenge posts ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m might take a mini-reading break too, so probably no more reviews this year either! (There are just too many movies coming out this year I need to see!)

Paper and Fire looks really interesting! Clicked-through to the Goodreads link and it looks like a really interesting premise – especially the Library angle. Happy reading and hope you have a great Holiday week!

    • Ah movies, I hope you managed to get to see the ones you want!

I’m totally suckered into the Great Library series, I’m really disappointed it’s not complete though. Because now I’m stuck at the part where I have to wait ๐Ÿ™

  2. I say the same thing about Cancer.
The weather has been weir here too. Last week at this time we had snow. Now it’s warmer than it was this morning and going to be in the 70s tomorrow. I’m waiting for several of my favorite shows to return. It seems like it’s been way longer than one year! I hope this coming week is a better one for you:)

    • I don’t watch too many weekly shows anymore (Netflix has spoiled me lol) but I am waiting on one to come back next month. The dreaded winter break *sigh* so lame.

  3. Sorry to hear about the funeral, and yup- same thing about cancer. Yay for The Librarians though- I’ve heard that’s a fun show.

It’s been just cold and snowy here. Hope the nice summer weather returns for you. and have a nice week!

  4. oh Sorry to hear about the funeral. Yeah, cancer sucks. Iโ€™ve lots some families because of it. The weather here is nice. I hope it will be there on Christmas Day. I hope you enjoy your books and have a wonderful week. โค๏ธ

    • The weather was quite nice over Christmas, hot enough to feel like summer but not too uncomfortable. I hope you had a great Christmas ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Sorry about your husbands work friend. That is very sad.
I have finished most of my posts for this year and was going to add some stuff in but decided to just ride out the year as is. It’s too crazy now and I hope next year I can be more ahead (I laugh at that) ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope you have a great week, Wattle!
    Happy Reading! ox

  6. Fuck cancer is right! I keep seeing these commercials for cancer research and the foundation saving lives but I really wish to hear more about survivors in my community. theglobaldig.blogspot.com

    • I hope one day there’s a cure for at least the most common cancers; so much progress has been made, but it’s just not enough ๐Ÿ™

  7. I’m sorry to hear about the death of your colleague’s husband. Cancer does suck. =(

I haven’t seen The Librarians. I’m going to have to check it out.

I hope you have a good week.

  8. My thought exactly about cancer!

Our weather here is so weird. 50’s one day and 30’s and snow the next. I wish it would stay one of the other, we might be able to feel better soon. I hope you get to feeling better soon too. โ˜บ Happy reading…

    • Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ our weather is still being a bit weird, but it looks like summer is ramping up over the next week *sigh* it was nice while the cooler weather lasted haha

  9. Cancer is a devastating illness…and its victims are too many. So sorry.

I can relate to taking a nap yesterday…I also took one. I used a gift card for a big lunch at Cheesecake Factory, and I felt immobile afterwards! Bad choice, right?

I haven’t read Rachel Caine, but one of her books is on my shelves: Stillhouse Lake. I hope to read it soon.

Enjoy your week…and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  10. Sorry to hear about the funeral. What a loss. ๐Ÿ™
The weather here has been back and forth, too. I wish it would just stay cold! (Well, cold for Florida.)
I hope you find some quiet time for reading this week, even with the busy work week.

    • Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I managed to find some time to read over Christmas which was nice! Only problem now is I’m reading 3 books at once, oops!

  11. My father-in-law died this year from cancer also. It sucks. I’m glad he’s no longer in pain, but watching that for a year was horrific. I know of people going through it even longer. It’s just so sad.

I completely agree with the weather! 30 degrees in the deep south is just not right! We got snow down here last week. I think nearly everyone in the South did and it was beautiful and then I ran inside to hide. The only thing I like about the cold is that I get to snuggle with my pups and drink coffee. ๐Ÿ˜€

Looks like you have some great reads coming your way! Have a great week!

    • I’m sorry about your father-in-law ๐Ÿ™ it’s such an awful disease.

Haha I heard about that snow from friends who were all ‘this is great but also I’m not leaving the house’ ๐Ÿ˜›

I hope you had a good week too ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Funerals are rough at the best of times but this time of year they seem especially cruel. I’m so sorry for your colleague. We’ve had dreary weather for the last couple of days and I think the weather has made up its mind that it’s going to stay that way if the weather report is anything to go by. Not real pleased! Enjoy your new books! I really liked that Julia Quinn (of course I liked most Julia Quinns!) and the Tessa Dare is on my TBR. Have a great week!

    • Oh yes definitely, it was made somehow worse by the time of year ๐Ÿ™

Yay, I’m glad to hear you liked it! I’m looking forward to reading that series.

  13. Sorry to hear about your rough week. Funerals are definitely hard. And cancer really is a terrible disease.
    Your new books look great.
I hope this week is better. Happy Reading!

  14. Ugh, yes. Our weather is doing that too and it’s hateful. The herd babies have stuffy noses from it and are feeling a spot miserable with that.

Yay for the Rachel Caine reads!

  15. Sorry to hear that Bre, even attending a funeral as an acquaintance really knocks your emotions about. Ugh the damn weather. It’s like an inferno one day over here and we have flash flooding and hail the next. Leading up to Christmas is making me exhausted and feel like just sleeping through it. You finally finished Case Histories! It sounds like the longest, most painful audiobook of ever. Hopefully the next one isn’t so long <3

    • I totally cried more than once. I just feel so bad for my colleague, you know? His illness has basically been her life for the past year and then some, and now she has to find a way to exist without him ๐Ÿ™

I did finish Case Histories! It was a bit weird because it was an abridged version, I’ll never listen/read one of those ever again, too much was obviously missed.
