Sunday Post #11

Posted 10th December 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 46 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I was so distracted this week, but not by anything in particular (except for Friday night, because Psych: The Movie and The Grand Tour had to be watched πŸ˜† ) My Kobo arrived on Monday, I like it, but the screen resolution isn’t the best (not a shock I suppose, since I got the cheapest one). The screen does feel more responsive than my Kindle Paperwhite; but I imagine that’s due to age. This week I also got new glasses (which brought a major headache for a couple of days, I forgot how awful new prescriptions are).

(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

Still listening to the audio…except not really, because I’ve not actually put it on to listen to for a few weeks now. Since I only listen to it at work, it’s a bit of an issue (I don’t have that much to go until it’s done!)

And I borrowed my first library book, Ink and Bone (I’ve already grabbed the second one as I should finish it today) πŸ™‚

Top 5 Wednesday #1

I’m so bad at blogging lately, I keep hoping the bug to write reviews will bite me πŸ™

I have intentions to do The Christmas Book Bloggers Tag next week πŸ™‚

Some books I ordered arrived. I also grabbed a couple of advent calendar deals and one pre-order was released!

For Review:

I hope you all had a wonderful week πŸ™‚ I am now going to finish returning comments from last week, finally!

  1. Oh my goodness, I’m seeing Psych the Movie everywhere and I can’t believe I missed it! I adore the show, but somehow the movie went past my radar. I haven’t read the books you listed above, but I hope you enjoy them! The library is a wonderful resource :).

  2. Sorry the screen resolution isn’t so great, but at least it’s new and shiny and more responsive and you get to borrow ebooks! Oh no, I didn’t realize new glasses prescriptions could do that?? I don’t think that’s ever happened with my contacts. Enjoy your Rachel Caine series!

    • I think it’s because they only changed the prescription of one eye. Usually my eyes just feel drunk lol but this time I had a headache above the eye that was changed πŸ™ I got used to them pretty quick though, so that’s good!

  3. Love borrowing ebooks from the library! It’s so handy, having them all at your fingertips without ever even getting off the couch πŸ˜€
Hope you are used to your new glasses by now. As a non wearer, I din’t realise a new prescription did that.

    • Yes it’s so handy! Although I have a feeling I might end up buying a few after I’ve read them because they’re so good, oops!

My glasses are all good now πŸ™‚ I should have got a pair specifically for reading (they gave me all distance ones, ugh) but I’ll probably do that in a few months. I do wish I didn’t need them (or didn’t have to change the prescription so often!) but it is what it is.

  4. Ooh Ink and Bone. I totally need to read that series in 2018. And hope the headaches go away soon, if they haven’t already. New RX’s are a pain sometimes…

The 12 Slays of Christmas- that title cracks me up. πŸ™‚

  5. Oh my gosh! I love the Hidden Legacy series, and I really hope you’ll love it, too!

I think the end of the year can be pretty hard when it comes to blogging, hopefully, you’ll feel like writing reviews really soon.

Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ it is probably likely to do with the time of year, I still can’t quite believe Christmas is just around the corner!

I hope you had a wonderful week!

    • After I read your comment last week I went and had a look at what NetGalley are doing. Ugh. I’m hoping the publishers I usually review through continue to offer ARCs to international bloggers, I was already limited enough in what I could request!

  6. I’ve been hearing some great stuff about that Psych movie. I guess I’ll have to see that one.
I hope that the blog-writing bug will bite you too πŸ˜‰
    Happy reading.

  7. My daughter always says her new glasses hurt her eyes. I never realized that, I don’t have glasses. Both of my kids need new so that will be something fun to do next year lol

You got lots of pretty books this week, I hope you enjoy them all. Sorry the resolution wasn’t what you expected. My paperwhite has a crappy charge on it so I have been reading from my phone which is ok but I prefer my kindle.

I hope you have a great week, Wattle! Happy Reading! πŸ™‚

    • It is pretty frustrating to get new glasses, I try to avoid it but always hit a point where I *know* I need to get new ones lol

Thank you πŸ™‚ I hope you had a great week!

  8. Yay, I am glad your Kobo arrived and are enjoying it so far. New prescription glasses take a little time to get used to, so hang in there. Enjoy all those new books, and I love the cover on the Rachel Caine books. Happy reading.

  9. I need to start borrowing e-books! I have never done that…and buying so many at ridiculous prices does seem like a poor choice to make. I should make a rule to only ever buy the buzzworthy books that I can’t wait to read…oh, no, that would still have me buying a LOT of books. LOL.

I’m glad you are enjoying your new device. Good luck with the eyeglasses.

Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

    • Haha yes, I have that problem. Too much $ spent on books, but if I like the ones I borrow I’ll probably end up buying them anyway. It’s a dilemma.

  10. I am glad you like your Kobo! Sorry to hear your new glasses gave you a headache, I hope you get used them soon. Ink and Bone sounds like a good one, I hope you’re enjoying it! Nice haul! 12 Slays sounds fun! I hope you’ll have a great week!

  11. I FINALLY bought Ink and Bone a few months ago – it was on sale – but I still need to read it. Soon I hope!! I’m so behind on writing things for the blog. I really need to work on that so I can start scheduling ahead more. hah

  12. Ooh, are you going to do a review of the Kobo? You could even rope in others with current ereaders to do a bit of a gift guide. I seen the Kobo stocked in JB HIFI over the weekend and I like how compact and light they are. My current reader is the newer backlit Paperwhite and coming from the Fire HD and before that, the Kindle 4 it’s brilliant. I had to get glasses for the first time this year and still not using the 80% of the time. I’m supposed to use them on the PC and white reading but despite having two pairs, I never remember. Maybe I need one of the old lady chains around my neck and keep them attached to me.

    • I hadn’t thought about it, to be honest! But I might, perhaps a comparison post. The Kobo is way lighter than my Paperwhite (which is a few years old now) but I suspect it’s more fragile; I’m really scared I’m going to drop it and the screen will break :/

Haha I started with reading glasses when I was 14 or something, but have been wearing them more and more as I get older (the perils of long sightedness πŸ™ ) I’ve been thinking about an old lady chain for my sunglasses πŸ˜› they’re not quite long enough to put on top of my head; which is a disappointment.

  13. Sorry to hear about your headache! Anything involving the eyes is always a challenge. Sorry that the review writing bug has deserted you but hopefully it will show back up soon! You got some great books this week! The Viscount Who Loved Me is in my Top 5 favorite romances! Have a great week!

    • It would probably be a fast read if I had more time to actually read it haha it’s great fun though, I’m trying to get chapters in where I can πŸ™‚
