Sunday Post #7

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

This week has been…something. Work was completely insane as it was month end, and I was all on my own. The trouble with having deadlines like this is that one week is super stressy while the rest of the month is pretty cruisy.

I decided to change my degree at uni in the midst of all this. I’ve been thinking about it since I dropped the current semester. Environmental Science and Marine Science just hasn’t turned out to be what I was expecting. So I’ve requested a change to Genetics & Molecular Biology with Biological Sciences as a secondary major (yes, I can still make it about plants and the environment!) I won’t find out if it’s approved or not until mid-December, but as it’s not a restricted course it should be fine ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s been quite warm this weekend, so I went clothes shopping yesterday ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I bought shorts! I usually spend summer wearing skirts; but my preference is for trousers/jeans/not skirts. I’ve hated shorts forever but I now own 4 pairs. Madness!

(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

Still listening to Case Histories (I’m very slow with audio, since I tend to listen to them at work), and I started The Cosy Christmas Chocolate Shop yesterday. I was pretty peeved with it at 12% but it’s got a bit better (not very Christmassy at all though, I’m disappointed!)

2017 HoHoHo Readathon goal post

And I’m not sure what else yet, it shall be a surprise for everyone!

I don’t buy box sets like this often, but I just couldn’t resist. It’ll give me an opportunity to try some new to me authors ๐Ÿ™‚ I also pre-ordered a couple of other box sets, but they totally don’t count this week!

  1. I hope your request to change your degree is approved. My daughter is doing microbiology in her current job and enjoys it. (And she works with plants!) It’s too bad the Christmas book isn’t more “Christmas” –at least at this point. Hope it improves.

    • Yay plant, they’re interesting (and occasionally weird) things!

I gave up on the book ๐Ÿ™ but HoHoHoRAT starts tomorrow so…at least I have some to look forward to.

  2. I hope itโ€™ll get approved. Same here, last week has been exhausting for me too. Letโ€™s hope the rest of this month is great for both of us. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a wonderful week. ?โค๏ธ

    • The narration is great but because it’s abridged it’s very, very choppy.

One thing was mentioned and I thought ‘what? I don’t remember that happening…’ and then it came up a few minutes later as someone was thinking about the day before; so they must have left that part out :/

  3. That’s tough when one week of work is super busy and the rest more quiet, it would be nice if the busy times were more spread out.

I hope your degree change goes well and you enjoy this one more.

Too bad that Christmas book isn’t too christmassy yet. I like buying box sets like that now and then as it’s a fun way to try out new authors. Have a great week!

    • Oh yes, it would be nice if most of the work didn’t have to be done over two days; I try not to let it get to me but occasionally it does.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you have a great week too!

  4. I hope your major change works out! Sorry your current major didn’t end up being quite what you’d hoped for or wanted. It happens though!!

Hopefully this month will be a good one for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess they’re the sort of things you have to try out before you realise they’re not a good fit; luckily 3/4 of the units I’ve already done count to the new course though, so that’s one good thing!

  5. Congrats on getting shorts and no review books! Always an achievement ๐Ÿ˜€ it was actually a tough week for me too, cause I had to teach in another city during report days! So basically, less time to do a task that’s already stressful ๐Ÿ˜€ let’s hope the next week is better ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Haha yes, I stayed away from NetGalley last week! If I don’t see any ARC’s I can’t request them (until I have to login to review something at least ๐Ÿ˜› )

  6. I hope the change in degree gets approved and works out well ๐Ÿ™‚ And ooh clothes shopping! I haven’t done that in so long. But I actually love shorts and that’s pretty much all I wear when I go out lol. I have very few jeans that fit me anymore, and skirts are just a pain to deal with -_-

    • Me too, thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ Skirts are just so girly, I stubbornly wear trousers to work until it’s too hot to move, and then I’ll grudgingly wear a dress. I used to wear culottes as a kid, maybe that’s what I need instead lol

  7. Ugh, sorry to hear about your tough week… especially since you were doing it all on your own. I hope this week is much calmer. I think my eyes crossed just reading about your uni majors. Me and science… donโ€™t mix so well. Iโ€™m impressed with anyone who excels at it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you end up enjoying The Cody Christmas Chocolate Shop Despite to rough start.

    • This week has been pretty good so far (although it is only Tuesday lol)

Haha I actually failed chemistry and physics when I was in school (would probably still fail physics tbh), I didn’t find my brain until just before I turned 30 and thought ‘oh I could do that!’ and here I am ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Ooh plants, a girl after my own heart. At one point, I’d always have my nose stuck in s gardening or plants species reference guide. Good luck and hope they approve it before the Christmas break sweetheart <3

    • I used to help my Grandma in the garden when I was a kid, but when she died (I was 5) everyone just sort of…stopped. So now I can tell roses from gerberas but that’s about it lol, although they did teach us how to identify natives vs weed species last year, that was weirdly fun!
