Sunday Post #1

Posted 30th July 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 20 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I thought it would be a good time to start doing these posts again. You know, when something actually happens haha. As a follow up to my last post (which was forever ago, oops!) I did pass my chemistry unit, with 51% overall. By the skin of my teeth (I’m annoyed that I went from 87% down to that, but whatever. I’ll take it!)

Uni break has been nice. I have done absolutely nothing though. I’m in a reading slump. Like, I want to read, but I don’t want to read; and nothing is really holding my interest (I keep trying though!) Usually when I’m in a reading slump, I’m watching all the tv shows. But I haven’t been doing that either! I’ve caught the first three episodes of season 2 of Preacher; now I’m just watching them pile up and will marathon them at some point (when I’m meant to be working on an assignment, no doubt).

I have been listening to music a lot. With the passing of both Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington recently, it hasn’t been exactly happy music *sigh*

Anyway, on to the books!

Down and Derby by Alex Cohen and Jennifer Barbee. While on break I’ve decided I need a hobby, and there’s a roller derby info night coming up in early August. I’m taking myself along and I intend to sign up as fresh meat, so I’m learning all I can in the meantime!

A Caribbean Mystery by Agatha Christie. I’ve been reading this for a while now, I have no idea why I’m stuck.

Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews. I put this down in April and haven’t picked it up again *sigh* I sort of hate the plot after the last few books, so I’m hoping some distance will make it easier to read when I do pick it up again.

lol nothing. And I’m not sure what’s upcoming either (I do have a couple of drafts sitting around, I should do something with those).

And that’s it from me πŸ™‚

  1. I am glad to see you started doing Sunday posts again, I always enjoy reading these type of posts. That’s great you succeeded your chemistry unit. Sorry to hear you’re in a bit of a reading slump :(. I hope you get out of it soon. I hope you’ll enjoy your current reads and have a great week!

    • I enjoy the Sunday posts too! I just wish I had more of them to add πŸ™

The reading slump continues, but I think it’ll pick up soon – mainly because I have a giant text book to read, which means I’ll want to read everything else instead!

  2. Reading slumps are the devil! I was in one earlier this year. Now, it’s quite the opposite. I read and read and read. But I really don’t feel like writing any reviews πŸ˜€
Congrats on making your chemistry unit. Nobody is going to ask for your grade or percentage later, anyway, what’s important is that you made it, right?
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • It’s great you got over your reading slump! Haha review writing can be a wee bit tedious can’t it?

Thank you for stopping by πŸ™‚

    • I was told once that 51% is a waste of effort if 50% will do lol I guess that is true but ugh it looks so crap next to my other grades!

  3. Oh I totally understand the wanting to read but not wanting to read thing because I go through that sometimes. I might be starting another one of those slumps now even. It’s frustrating. I’ve been reading lots of comics and fluffy standalones to combat it since those don’t take a lot of concentration or commitment. Congrats on passing your chem unit though, even if it wasn’t as high as your other score πŸ™‚

    • Slumps are so frustrating πŸ™ Oh comics! I didn’t think of that, I have an entire shelf worth that needs reading, so I shall have to make a note for next time.

I really love the fact novellas exist at the moment, I’m struggling to read entire books lol

  4. I’m still in a bit of disbelief over Chester Bennington’s passing. Linkin Park is one of my all time favorite bands. Their music got me through a lot of rough and not so happy times in my teenage years and early 20s.
