Sunday Post #16

Posted 21st January 2018 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 17 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Well this week was…a ride. It was one of those that felt really long, but also felt really short. Weird.

Dad had a fall on Friday, on his way to meet me for lunch (cue guilty feelings). He called me to pick him up and take him home, I thought he was sick until I saw the state of his hands (he’d also hit his head, but wouldn’t let me take him to the hospital). He was in shock, seems okay now though. I don’t dig this reality check, I’m not a fan of my parents getting older ๐Ÿ™

CURRENTLY READING
(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

I have so many feelings about this series (not all of them are positive ๐Ÿ˜† ) I’ve just requested the last 5 books from one of my local libraries (the person who is just ahead of me with the ebooks is a slow reader, and I’m impatient, so physical books it is!) My super local library is closed from the end of next week until March, so I’ve asked to pick them up at another one not too far away. I’ve driven past it many, many times; but have no idea how to get in there. So that’ll be fun haha

  1. That’s strange those week that feel long and short at the same time. I hope your father is doing okay after that fall :(. It’s such a strange and sad feeling when you realize your parents are getting older. Glad to see your still reading that series even tough not all your feeling are positive, it’s great when you have a series like that were you just want to keep reading one book after another. And that’s neat on the no new books, we all need a week like that sometimes. Have a great week!

  2. Ah, yes, the getting older thing. When my parents were going through it, I lived pretty far away, so my siblings handled a lot of it. Guilt!

Now as I get older, I only have one adult child nearby, and since she is my youngest, I feel guilty about her having to deal with me when I get to that point! More guilt.

Luckily, I’m doing okay and I’m not really old yet…ha! Unless you ask my youngest grandchild. Everybody is OLD to him.

Enjoy your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. My library here is closed until March as well! Actually, they are moving to a new building apparently. I never go to the actual library-I only do ebooks or audiobooks.
Parents getting older scares the crap out of me! Its so hard! Glad he is okay though!

  4. I hope your dad is okay after his fall. That can be scary.
I haven’t been to the library in too long myself, I need to get back to going.
    Enjoy your week!

  5. I’m sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he’s okay! That can be scary. And yes, parents getting older is not a fun thing. ๐Ÿ™‚ So true.

I love that cover of Bite Club!!!

  6. I am glad your dad is feeling better after his fall. I’m no especially a fan of parents growing older either–or of me growing older. ๐Ÿ™ I hope you are enjoying The Bite Club. Have a great week! Thanks for visiting.

  7. I’m sorry to hear about your dad! That’s never fun.
Last week was definitely a weird one…I didn’t work a ton, but it still felt like it went on and on. haha I hope this week goes by quicker.

  8. Wow, I’m glad you’re dad is okay. It’s scary when things like that happen. Glad you were able to get the books even though your library is closed. Ours just did a renovation so I know how you feel. I had to use the one on the other side of town too. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  9. I hope your Dad is doing better Bre, the poor guy. It’s a bit of a shock when they have an accident or old age starts to creep up on them, you don’t realise that they’re really ageing until something like that happens. I’m the same with my mum, she’s in her seventies now and it’s hard to watch her getting older.

You’re far too invested in the series to give up now ๐Ÿ˜€

  10. Oh god, I hope your dad is getting better. My father is starting to have problems when walking alone. Weโ€™ve tried to stop him from driving alone. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new book. Have a wonderful week and happy reading. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

  11. OMG, I hope your dad feels 100000% better. ๐Ÿ™ I remember a few months back, my dad was using this weird exercise thingy and fell off it. He hit his head, and he said it throbbed for a few days after–we were all worried sick. He’s fine now, though, and I know your dad will be, too! <3
