Sunday Post #14

Posted 7th January 2018 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 29 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I am becoming a bit obsessed with The Morganville Vampires Series. I’m only on book 3, and my library only has the first 4 books (why do they do that?) so soon I’ll have to start buying them I suppose. There’ll be a bit of a break from it coming up though, I have a review book I need to read. Never mind, it’s not due until March. Score!

(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

I must admit, I’ve not actually picked up Origin or A Caribbean Mystery at all over the past week, oops!

I haven’t decided yet, but I really do need to write more reviews; don’t I?

  1. The Morganville books all have cool covers, I must say. Even if I’ve never read ’em they look good. πŸ™‚

I’ve been wanting to read some Christie, how are you liking The Caribbean Mystery so far? I do like the cover.

    • The covers are pretty cool (I like how they all match haha).

The Caribbean Mystery is okay, I’d get through it quicker if I just sat down and read it without distractions. Some of it makes me pull a face (the racism and sexism, but it’s not as bad as some classics I’ve tried!) but I know it’s a product of its time.

      • Yeah that is a problem with the older books. I tried a Christie once and got bored and fell away, I think it was the Halloween one. I’ll try her again though. πŸ™‚

        Have a super weekend.

    • I feel myself slowing a bit with the series now, I’m curious to see how far I get before I need a break (although it helps the books aren’t super long).

    • Internet is back! Our line had physically fallen off at the exchange 😐 took them a couple of weeks to bother looking into it that far though.

  2. I love seeing someone else enjoying the Morganville Vampires as much as I did. I even got my husband to read the whole series along with me and we had fun at the time discussing the various plots and what we thought would happen. πŸ™‚ I always loved Myrnin in all his brilliant madness. LOL

    My Sunday Post

    • It’s pretty fun. The cliffhangers at the end of each book are driving me slowly crazy though πŸ˜† Myrnin is totally my fave at the moment ♥

  3. I think I only read the first or the first two Morganville Vampires books, I did enjoy it, but for some reason it didn’t grab me enough to continue. That’s too bad your library only has the first 4 books. I bought the Faerie Guardian a while ago, I think it was free and another blogger reviewed the series. It does sound like a good one. I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • I’m not sure if the series will keep me hooked until the end (with so many books in it, I’d be really surprised if it did), but so far so good. I found out my library has another online borrowing service, where I found the rest of the books! A bit of a silly system really 😐

  4. I have heard good things about the Morganville Vampires. I think I have book 1 around here somewhere…Can you request your library to pick up the rest? My library is really good about grabbing my recs!
    Have a great week!

    • I found out my library has a second online borrowing service, where I found the rest of the books! I’m sure there’s some logic to having the series split across two different things. Maybe πŸ˜†

    • I found out my library has a second online borrowing service, where I found the rest of the books! I feel like they should maybe put a note somewhere to say series may be split across both though.

There’s SO MANY BOOKS in this series, I’m curious to see how far I’ll get πŸ˜†

  5. Happy New Year, new follower via Bloglovin and Twitter!!

Have you watched The Morganville web series? They only shared a few episodes, but it was very intriguing!

    • I find her writing to be more agreeable to me than most ‘classic’ authors. She’s the second one I’ve come across where I can see me reading more of her work πŸ™‚ The other is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I have a mystery theme it seems.
