Sunday Post #10

Posted 3rd December 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 51 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

It’s Saturday night as I write this, and I am super tired so sorry for any typos. I’m not having the best week health wise; the highlight was when one of my specialists called me on Friday night, to tell me I could quadruple the dose of one of my medications πŸ˜† Hopefully with the increase I’ll be feeling well again (or at least not feeling sick).

I have a Kobo e-reader arriving on Monday so I can borrow books from my local library (which I’ve re-joined). I hope I don’t hate it, Australian libraries do not (or cannot) support Kindles with Overdrive (unlike the USA) and I refuse to read on my phone *sigh*

CURRENTLY READING
(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

It’s taking me an embarrassingly long time to get through this audiobook (and it’s really short!) And I’ve not felt up to reading anything else πŸ™

  1. I hope you’ll feel better! This is my first time on your blog, and your blog looks so cute and cozy :D. I literally screamed when I saw Thor Ragnarok, I’m absolutely a ginormous Marvel fan! Have a great week!

  2. Hi there! Happy December! I hope you have a great one in store for you.

I’m sorry about your health lately but I hope it’s on the up.

I’ve owned a Kobo for the past few years and I love them but my problem has been that the books seem to be getting more and more expensive in comparison to Amazon… 😣 I still love my reader and I have a huge library on it AND being Australian you are correct – the libraries only seem to support Kobo! … But being a blogger I’ve just ordered a Kindle as well since all my ARCs can go on there and the books are cheaper! πŸ™ˆ

I guess it’s good to have both – best of both worlds!

Have a wonderful week and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    • Happy December to you too πŸ™‚ I love my Kindle (and Amazon ebook sales haha) but I just spend too much money on them; so thought if the library can help me out; I might as well go for it! It just makes sense to have two e-readers!

  3. That’s annoying that you have to buy a Kobo just for your library books. I can’t use overdrive either here in Ireland for my library books. Instead it’s an app called BorrowBox. I just read them on my table though, and that works out ok. I don’t mind reading a few pages on my phone if I’m out and about (like in a coffee shop, or something) but I couldn’t read a full book on it.
    Hope the meds works!

  4. Awww! Sorry you are not feeling well. I hope the change in your meds will help.
My kindle isn’t holding a charge so I have been spending a lot of time reading on my phone. It’s not that bad but when it needs to be charged it makes me miss my Kindle! πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Wattle! Happy Reading! ox

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ Oh no, that’s a pity about the Kindle. Mine loses battery pretty quick too now that I think about it, eep. Might be time for an upgrade soon!

  5. Hope the med increase helps! That sucks that you can’t use kindle and overdrive in Australia! What a bummer. Hopefully the kobo reader works for you. I have only ever had iPads and kindles. Between those 2 I can pretty much get access to whatever I need. Thankfully, my library has a good selection of ebooks and audiobooks!

  6. Oh no, I hope you feel better and soon! Yay for the Kobo reader, it’s great to be able to use it instead of your phone. My husband just doesn’t understand why I won’t use my phone, it’s not the same as a tablet. Ugh… Men… Enjoy the week ahead and thank you for stopping by earlier. πŸ™‚

    • I can read other things on my phone, but not books! I think it’s the mindset when it comes to the type of screen I’m reading on. I don’t retain as much on a backlit screen than I do a frontlit e-reader!

  7. If it makes you feel any better, I don’t think our libraries here where I live support any kind of digital library whatsoever πŸ˜€ no Overdrive for me either!

Yeah, I’ve been wondering why I keep seeing the same book on your blog every Sunday for like the third time now πŸ˜€

Anyway, have a great week πŸ™‚

  8. Hope you’re feeling better! I finally saw Thor yesterday and I’m glad I finally did, I thought I might be the last one to finally see it. πŸ™‚

I don’t like reading on my phone either so I can relate. Bummer about Kindles with Overdrive not being supported, that would be annoying!

  9. I hope the med increase is helping <3

Funny, at some point within the last few months I've taken to using my phone for reading. Like, I haven't even turned on my kindle. The phone is smaller and lighter and therefore less painful for my tennis elbow when I hold it, so it works for me!

    That witch book looks interesting!

    • Thank you, I think it’s getting a little better πŸ™‚

I read other things on my phone, but cannot do books. I can understand how it would be easier to hold than an e-reader though!

  10. Oh I didn’t know that. I have a Kindle so there would be no point in me signing up to borrow. I’m hope you’re starting to feel a little better Bre with the new dosage, could also be that audiobook you’ve been listening to since the DAWN OF MAN. Are you just not all that into it?

    • Yep, it’s rather annoying we’re not Kindle compatible πŸ™

Haha no, it’s just because I’m not very good at audiobooks. I have issues concentrating on them, but I’m *trying* (and failing) because I like the idea of them!

  11. Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well health wise. I hope the upped dose in your medication will help you feel better. I have a Kobo e-reader and I love it. i hope you like your Kobo! Which model did you order? That’s tough when it takes so long to get through a book. I hope this week was a better one!

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ I just got the Kobo Aura because it was the cheapest! I quite like it, it’s more responsive than my Kindle, but also feels very fragile. I have a case coming this week though so hopefully that’ll make me feel like it’s more sturdy.

      • I have a Kobo touch and I also have a case for mine. It’s very light and feel a bit fragile indeed, the case really helps give it a more sturdy feel. I don’t think they had the Aura model yet when I got mine. Glad to hear you like your Kobo :).

    • Haha it’s good you found what works for you! πŸ™‚ I do use my phone or computer for textbooks (when they’re available), but for some reason I just cannot do fiction. It’s a bit weird lol
