Sunday Post #8

Posted 19th November 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 32 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I didn’t do one of these last week, but I’m back this week…with an awful lot of books added to my shelves, oops! Though in my defence, it took 6 weeks for half of them to arrive, and then they all came at once πŸ˜†

And I finally got back to roller derby this week, I hadn’t been for a while due to some health issues; so it was fun to start all over again. I can slow down now (still can’t stop haha) πŸ˜€

CURRENTLY READING
(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

Yep. Still listening to the audio! I really do need to come up with a better way to listen to my books that isn’t at work, when I’m not focused on something πŸ™ I’m not reading anything else at the moment, I just finished a book and haven’t decided what to pick up next.

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG

Well…the last two weeks:

Sunday Post #7
2017 HoHoHo Readathon
Book Review: A Fatal Collection by Mary Ellen Hughes
Letting The Fangirl Out #1
2017 HoHoHo Readathon Round-Up

NEXT WEEK ON THE BLOG

Movie Review: Thor: Ragnarok
Book Review: By The Currawong’s Call by Welton B. Marsland

There may be a second book review, but I haven’t quite decided yet (I really should do posts in advance!)

NEW ON MY SHELVES

Bought:

E-books (Southern Spirits and Rescued were freebies):

Paperbacks (the last three are non-fiction). All the cozy mysteries! I’ve discovered a lot of the ones I want to read aren’t available on kindle (and if they are, I’m geoblocked πŸ™ ) so physical books it is!

For Review:

None!

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Thor: Ragnarok, I still need to see it. And I like a good cozy mystery once in a while- love that line up you have there, those look fun.

    Have a super week!

    • Oh I was not patient at all haha I had a countdown to the day I could complain that they’d gone missing, and they made it with 4 days to spare! Totally ridiculous.

  2. Great haul this week. You’ve added some great covers, but most of them are new to me. I need to check them out. That’s great that you are feeling better and returning to Roller Derby. It’s one of those sports I always wished that I had gotten into but never did. Have a great week, happy reading and Happy holidays

    • I was quite surprised that lots of the ladies at Roller Derby are in their 30s and 40s, it seems to be a sport that people try when they get sick of everything else!

    • I think I’m going to have to read a proper version of Case Histories, the abridged audiobook is lovely to listen to but the story is a bit of nightmare to follow; I imagine because so much has been left out πŸ™

    • I was counting down the days I had until I could make an ‘it seems to have gone missing’ complaint, I must admit lol

I meant to do my Thor review this week but just didn’t get to it, so it will be up on Monday instead! (I totally went by myself, worth it!)

  3. Books always come all at once. It’s one of Murphy’s Laws or something πŸ˜‰ Yay for being able to go back to roller derby! Maybe you’ll ever learn how to stop soon πŸ˜› (I don’t do roller derby, but I’ve just gone regular rollerblading before, and honestly I still don’t know how to stop other than running into a wall, haha.)

  4. I always seem to have week when I do really well and then in one week I suddenly get a lot of new books. I hope you’ll enjoy those Diane Vallere books! I’ve enjoyed the books of her that I read so far. That Betty Hechtman series looks good! Have a great week!

    • I’m trying to be better for the next month or so to make up for it (not really succeeding, if I’m being honest!) I think I found Diane Vallere through you! I love her newsletter so I’m hoping her books are just as fun πŸ™‚

  5. Ooh I’m curious to see what you think of Thor. I really loved it!! Yay for all the cozy mysteries. I really want to read more soon. I read a Christmas themed cozy recently and just loved it.

You do roller derby? How exciting!!

    -Lauren

    • I liked Thor, minus a few issues πŸ™‚ I just put my post up today if you were curious (I tried not to be too fangirly haha).

Sort of. I’m very much a newbie in fresh meat, but it’s fun and gets me out of the house for a few hours each week (I’m no longer scared to fall over, progress!)
