Sunday Post #6

Posted 29th October 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 34 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

What did I do last week? *ponders* I saw Thor: Ragnarok, and it was super duper fun and great and I really liked it, but I didn’t love it. There’s a couple of things that unsettled me…I need to see it again to make sure (oh no, how awful for me) and then I think I’ll review it.

CURRENTLY READING
(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

I’m still reading The Best Little Christmas Shop ๐Ÿ™ it’s taking me forever. Case Histories is an abridged version, which I would usually avoid; but it’s narrated by Jason Isaacs soooo…I made an exception haha

    • Urban fantasy is so fun, but I go through phases with it. I devour it for weeks and weeks and then won’t read any for a year lol and repeat.

  1. I love how your new books just fit with Halloween so well! Hope you get through The Best Little Christmas Shop. I get frustrated if it takes me too long to read one book, unless the book is so good that I never want it to end! Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

    • You know, I totally didn’t pick up on that until I saw your comment! Perhaps the season was speaking to me (I really wanted witch books!)

I am struggling hard with this Christmas book, but I don’t want to DNF it (so tempted though ๐Ÿ™ )

  2. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the Thor movie. I hope that Christmas Shop book is a good one, I am currently reading a Christmas book as well. I’ll have to remember to stop by next week to read your review for A Scone to Die for, it’s such a fun series! Have a great week!

  3. I plan to start my Christmas reads next month but I have to say the Witch Cake Murders looks cute, I added it to my TBR.
My husband wants to see Thor, It looks fun, not sure I would expect it to be a comedy like they are previewing it as. I’ll see it when it comes to TV ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great week, Wattle! Happy Reading!

    • It does look cute doesn’t it? I’m hoping it lives up to its cover (and the preview at Amazon lol)

Thor is pretty fun, and it’s a comedy for sure. I can’t decide if the director’s humour is an acquired taste or not but I was very amused by the whole thing, his cameo practically stole the movie too!

  4. Your books look great! I have some Christmas books that I have coming up to read during the HoHoHoRAT, and I can’t wait. I love this time of year. I hope you enjoy the new additions and you week coming up. Thanks for stopping by earlier. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I’ll be curious to see your review of Thor. Honestly, I’m not sure if I even know much of what happens in this one – but I’ve seen all the others so I must see this one! lol

    • It’s a pretty fun movie, they basically ignore everything else and just go for it (which worked pretty well, I thought). Also the whole cast is pretty dreamy, I am so shallow sometimes haha

  6. Hey,
    Thnx for visiting my blog!
I see ur deep into the winter theme. I don’t think I’ve read wintery books before, do u have any recommendations?

    • Oooh putting me on the spot here!

I really liked Christmas at the Comfort Food Cafe by Debbie Johnson, it is deep in chick lit territory though (I know not everyone digs that!) I haven’t found any others that I’ve really enjoyed though ๐Ÿ™ I’m hoping to change that this year!

  7. It’s been so long since I’ve read a great urban fantasy Bre, I think the last one I enjoyed was Paula Weston’s Rephaim series. Seeing all your Christmassy reads has inspired me to find a few YA titles but the only ones I can find and I’ve already read sadly. I must admit though, I’ve never been able to get into the superhero universe. I bought a copy of Wonder Woman which I plan on reading (because kick ass women) but Thor is probably worth it just for Mr Hemsworth.

    *drools on keyboard*

    • I have the Rephaim series but haven’t read it (huge shock, I know lol)

Oh that reminds me, I need to get the Wonder Woman book (I really enjoyed the movie tbh, waaaaay more than I thought I would). Thor is good fun, there is the obligatory shirtless scene, so it is essential viewing!
