Sunday Post #5

Posted 22nd October 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 30 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

A whole bunch of nothing happened last week. But that’s okay. Because this week? If all goes to plan, I’m seeing Thor: Ragnarok on Thursday, woo hoo! Thor is my favourite of the Marvel movie series, I don’t really care about the others anymore (they managed to burn me out AND piss me off with the last Avengers movie so…*shrugs*)

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG

Sunday Post #4
Book Review: Debauched by Jennifer Dawson
Book Review: Christmas at the Gin Shack by Catherine Miller

NEXT WEEK ON THE BLOG

Book Review: Taken by Jennifer Dawson

There will be another book review, but I’m not sure what yet!

NEW ON MY SHELVES

There’s a theme this week. Can you see it?

The Christmas Gift by Monica McInerney is less than 35 pages long lol but it sounded cute, and I was browsing Christmas titles for the HoHoHo Readathon! I usually read novellas during readathons, which is probably cheating a bit, but they’re so easy to get a full story and move on to the next. I have a couple of actual novels that are on my ‘maybe read’ list, if I have enough time.

And that’s it from me! I hope you all had a wonderful week. I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of October already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  1. Oh, my goodness look at all those holiday books. I forget are you participating in HoHoHoRAT? I want to click them all! Quiet weeks are the best. My hubby just asked me tonight if I wanted to go to the dinner theater again and see Thor: Ragnarok. Oh heck yes! Enjoy.

    • I’m so excited about all the holiday reads! And yes I certainly am! I’ll have to put together my post soon so I don’t forget ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I’m planning to watch the new Thor movie too. Hopefully my husband and I will have the time this week. Anyway, yay I love seeing lots of Christmas books here. I can’t believe we’re nearing Christmas already. I’m starting to put more attention on Christmas books these days.
Enjoy your new books and have a wonderful week. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

    • I hope you enjoy it when you see it! I’ve only heard positive things when it comes to reviews, it sounds like it’ll be good fun ๐Ÿ™‚

    • There’s soooo many Christmas books out there, I want to read heaps of them (my ‘need to buy this book’ bookmark folder is out of control now haha).

  3. Ooh, will you be reviewing the movie Bre? I must admit, I’ve never Bern able to get into the whole comic book hero films but will make an exception for a Hemsworth #AmirightLadies

I love a heartwarmimg Christmas themed read too, there doesn’t seem to be many around in young adult though strangely. You could possibly run out of Christmas books well before Christmas ๐Ÿ˜€

    • I hadn’t thought if it to be honest, but I just might! If it’s any good (it better be!) I’ll see it more than once, because I just cannot help myself. I’ll call it research ๐Ÿ˜›

I was thinking as I browsed Christmas titles that I don’t recall seeing any in YA that aren’t anthologies ๐Ÿ™

  4. I hope you’ll enjoy the movie! I have to admit I never watched or read anything from the Avengers.

Those tow Christmas books you got for review look good! I hope they’re good ones! Have a great week!

    • I think superhero movies used to be kind of a niche thing, but they’ve exploded over the last decade and it’s getting a bit ridiculous.

Thank you! I hope you have a good week also ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I just a preview for the Thor movie and it looked so good! I hope you enjoy it! Love all your Christmas books – especially A Vicarage Christmas and The Best Little Christmas Shop. I have several books by Kate Hewitt on my TBR but haven’t gotten to any of them yet. Have a great week!

  6. Hello new bestie!!!! I saw this: “Thor is my favourite of the Marvel movie series” and knew we were soul mates ๐Ÿ˜€

No, but jokes aside, I can’t wait to watch Thor. I thought the Thor trailer was a bit cheesy at the end and I really hope they don’t turn it into a ridiculous piece of entertainment.

I love seeing all of your Christmas books. I just received my first holiday themed book, and I can’t wait to start it. I really should get a few more, they make the season so much more merrier. ๐Ÿ˜€

Have a great day and happy reading!!!

    • Haha I love the Thor movies. I saw the second one three times in three days (though in my defense, I was with a friend I see every few years, we’re both ridiculous fangirls; AND I was leaving the USA to head home to Australia, so we saw it as many times as we could before I left!)

I think Ragnarok will be fun, if the director is anything to go by. I like that it’s a standalone and doesn’t tie into the universe, though I’m curious to see what they do with Hulk. My expectations are pretty big, I’m going to be disappointed if it falls flat (which happened last time I was excited about a Marvel movie eep!)

    • I’ve never read any of her stuff (though I see it around) so I’m dipping my toe into her world with this short story ๐Ÿ™‚ Christmas books are SO cosy, I think that’s what I like about them!

    • I’ve always loved superhero movies (like the original Batman films), but they are an acquired taste ๐Ÿ™‚ I am getting a bit sick of them though, I just wish they’d slow down. Marvel have worn me out, it’s too much!

Haha I always feel like I’m wasting my time when I watch movies, I need to be in the mood for them. But I can happily watch 10 episodes of a tv show in a row, go figure!

  7. Thor’s a favorite with me, but I haven’t watched many of the movies. Hope you love the latest.

Oh yes, I’m piling up a few holiday/winter reads for the HoHoHo Readathon as well. I’ve got six so far. I only have one novella though so not sure how many I’ll get read for the challenge.

    Have a good week, Wattle!

    • He is good fun ๐Ÿ™‚ I like that he’s different to everyone else, being a God and all!

I hope you have some fun reads lined up for the readathon! I wish it was here already to be honest, I’m in the best Christmassy mood right now lol

  8. I need to write up my HoHoHo Readathon list this week. I want to try and get some other posts scheduled out for November too so I’m a bit more ahead. LOL

Ooh enjoy Thor!! I can’t wait to see it.

    -Lauren

    • I need to schedule posts too (I’m mean to be doing Blog Ahead and have done noooothing), otherwise November is going to be very quiet!

I hope you enjoy Thor when you see it!
