Sunday Post #3

Posted 8th October 2017 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 29 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I have made close to zero progress in my blog ahead challenge so far, but I have written a bunch of notes for books I have read over the past few months…some of which I didn’t actually remember reading, oops!

This week has been super slow for some reason. You know those days that just drag and drag? This week was full of them. I’m getting an iron infusion bright and early at 6:30am tomorrow (yikes!) which I’m almost glad about. Maybe I won’t be so tired in the near future, and since it’s so early, I should be home for breakfast – although I might need to take a nap afterwards. I have awful veins, so I’m trying to stay hydrated. Water is so boring πŸ™

CURRENTLY READING
(All book covers in this post will take you to their respective Goodreads pages).

I’m only a few pages into this so haven’t really got a feel for it yet, but the main character is an 84 year old lady who is searching for the perfect gin & tonic (despite not being a drinker myself, I appreciate looking for the perfect tasting something – for me it’s ginger ale soda in the USA which SUCKS BEYOND BELIEF! It’s not gingery at all, and every time I go there I try a few more…ginger beer soda doesn’t count, it’s not the same). Oops, how’s that for off topic randomness?

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG

There were two posts on the blog last week (I know, how weird!)

The Sunday Post (#2)
Review of Pressed to Death by Kirsten Weiss

NEW ON MY SHELVES

Mainly the virtual sort (I have some actual REAL books winging my way next week, exciting!)

Although I totally just remembered, I got a paperback copy of Big Little Lies. All those Emmys have convinced me I need to see Alexandar SkarsgΓ₯rd in it watch it then read it! Everything else is on my Kindle though:

Bought:

For Review

I haven’t bought or received this many books in a long time, it’s kind of exciting! Even though I have a zillion other books to read, I’m sure I’ll fit them all in *cough* at some point.

Hope you all had a great week and weekend. Who knows, I might even have more posts go up this week πŸ™‚

  1. Nice haul and yes, this week seemed to have an extra day in it, and dragged. I was so tired. I think its the change in weather. Enjoy your new lovelies and good luck with the shots.

    • I think the weather has a lot to do with it! We’re flip flopping between stormy winter weather and gorgeous spring days, I wish it’d just pick one. Thank you, all went well!

  2. I haven’t made any progress in my blog ahead challenge too. Been so busy last week I only managed to read one book. I’m planning to at least finish one book today. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, your Christmas book looks awesome. I hope you’re enjoying it. Have a wonderful week and happy reading. 😁❀️

    • I don’t read as much as I used to πŸ™ I find time just flies these days!

It’s a fun, if different book to what I’d normally have my nose in!

    • I usually wouldn’t read Christmas books so early, but this one comes out this week, so I was wanting to review it as close to the release date as I could. I’m not sure if I’ve ever read a Halloween-y book…I might need to fix that πŸ™‚

  3. Good Luck with the Iron infusion, I really might need one of those. Water is extremely boring, I have such a hard time drinking it. I had weeks that drag sometimes I feel like I am going backwards instead of forwards.

I hope this week is awesome for you! Happy Reading, Wattle! Enjoy all your new books! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ Water is so boring, I found I was more thirsty the more I drank though, which is weird.

I hope you have a good week too!

  4. Good luck with the iron infusion. I have heard that can really help anemia related fatigue! I get a b12 injection once every 6 months.
    Enjoy your books!

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ it went well (I think), I get B12 shots every few months too, although I can never really tell the difference after I’ve had them!

    • Thanks, me too! For now my body isn’t very happy with it, but hopefully it’ll settle down (I’m just glad they got it into me in one go lol)

Haha I go through phases where I drink just water, and then I trip up somewhere and drink other things. I did find it easier to drink the more I drank though.

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ The infusion took 3x longer than it should have but it was a success! When I need to get a blood test I try to see the same phlebotomist each time, she uses the needles they use on babies which look cute compared to the normal ones lol

      • Glad to hear it went well. Hopefully you’ll have some more energy now. They have to use the same needles on me. lol. It’s frustrating when you tell them they need to use those and the best spot to get a hit on my veins, but get someone who doesn’t listen. They usually do now, but I’ve got to the point where I just refuse to let them do anything until they have the right stuff. Like I want any unnecessary poking.

  5. Good luck with your blog ahead challenge. I know it’s tough but at least you’ve got some notes to look back to. I see you’ve picked up Big Little Lies – I absolutely loved that book. I hope you’ll enjoy it, too!

    Happy reading, hun!

    • Hiiii Joy!

I’m hoping to sit down this weekend and smash out some reviews (I’ll probably just read instead haha)

Awesome, I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Big Little Lies πŸ™‚ I’ll have to get to it soon!

  6. I hope it all went well Bre and you’re resting up. Anemia leaves you feeling so exhausted. You’ve got fabulous new books to enjoy at least. A main character in her eighties, well now I’m intrigued! Looking forward to seeing what you think of that one Bre <3

    • I had an iron value so low once it was unreadable (my doctor asked me how I was still standing lol) but I felt fine. This time it’s not that low but I constantly feel like I need a nap. Funny, how the body works.

It certainly is different to have a main character who’s in a retirement home haha she’s quite fun πŸ™‚

  7. Sorry to hear you haven’t made much progress for Blog Ahead, but that’s nice you have a few ideas. Sorry to hear this week had so many slow days :(. I hope you feel better after the iron infusion.

That interesting your current read has a main character who is 84, I hope it will be a good read. Enjoy those HY Hanna books, she’s one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. Have a great week!
