Aussie YA Bloggers: Secret Santa Blog Hop 2016

Posted 8th December 2016 by Wattle in Blog Hops & Memes / 12 Comments

This year I’m taking part in the Aussie YA Bloggers & Readers Secret Santa ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve not done one of these in the bookish community before, so I’m really thrilled to be taking part!

Now I get to answer some questions and leave a few hints for my santee.

The Questions

1. What are your top 5 favourite books this year?
I thought this was going to be hard, but I guess I haven’t read that many books this year heh. In no particular order, my favourites were:
Awakened by the Wolf by Kristal Hollis
Clancy of the Undertow by Christopher Currie
Kings Rising by C.S. Pacat
The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
Merry Christmas, Mr. Miggles by Eli Easton

2. What are your top 5 favourite Aussie YA books this year?
Ummmm…I only read one? *hides* it was a really good one though!
Clancy of the Undertow by Christopher Currie

Fail. I’ll have to read more next year!

3. How did you go with your Goodreads challenge?
I’ve read 42 of my 52 goal, which isn’t bad considering I stopped reading in July and only started again a couple of weeks ago. I’m not sure if I’ll reach 52 by the end of the year, but I *do* read a lot over Christmas usually, since there’s never anything on tv!

4. What is your favourite blogging moment of 2016?
Designing my own header for the first time in years was pretty fun.

5. What are your blogging goals for 2017?
Blog more – pretty much sums it up! Keep this blog open, even ๐Ÿ˜‰

6. What books are you looking forward to in 2017?
All the ones I’ve not read yet! This blog isn’t really about what’s coming out next year (though there’ll be a few new releases, I’m sure), but it’s about what is on my shelves now (I have a lot of books!) There’s plenty I’ve forgotten about (there’s also duplicates as I cannot keep track of what I do have, but let’s not talk about that).

7. What is your favourite thing about the Aussie YA community?
I do love everyone’s enthusiasm for the things they enjoy.

3 clues for my santee:
1. We’re on opposite sides of the country.
2. Your site layout shows the beauty of nature.
3. You’ve marked over 800 books as ‘read’ on Goodreads.

  1. I hope you have fun with the secrets santa! I only have participated in a secret santa once, but I had a lot of fun that time. You did pretty well with your reading goal, considering you didn’t read for a big chunk of the year. I hope you can get a few more books read before the end of the year! I hope to read a lot of books in 2017 that I already own, but I can’t resist picking up a bunch of new releases as well. I think this year half of the books I read were new releases and I expect the same to happen next year.

    • Good luck with your reading goals for next year ๐Ÿ™‚ I intend to buy a few books still, but it’ll mostly be ones on my shelf (mainly so I can create more space if I decide I don’t need them!) I’ve hit a mini-reading slump now, but I think it’s more this time of year than anything else; it gets so busy!

  2. Ohhhh, I LOVE THE NEW NAME Wattle! So cute!

I couldn’t agree more, two of my favourites this year were The Hidden Oracle and Clancy of The Undertow as well. 42 books is absolutely massive! I haven’t read all that many this year, been slumping it a bit too and putting more work into other things, like the garden when the weather is nice and reading far more slowly. I’m hoping to blog a bit more next year too and hopefully get my shit together. Here’s to a better 2017 for both us us sweetheart <3 <3

    • Thanks! I decided it was rather fitting (and it worked out I could keep my email address because it still makes sense haha). 2017 will totally be our year!

  3. I love your header, especially the fox! Fits in with the blog so well ๐Ÿ™‚

42 books is kicking ass in my eyes – I hope you get around to your goal soon because you’re right. There’s never anything on TV around Christmas haha. Netflix and Stan has ruined me though, I spend waaaay too much time on both of them.

Thanks for participating in Secret Santa this year Bre! Can’t wait to see all the posts on your blog next year xx

    • Thank you ๐Ÿ˜€ I wanted something simple and the only thing I was gravitating toward was foxes, they’re so cute and sneaky!

Oh my goodness tv around this time of year is SO boring, but I’ve been sucked into Netflix lately too (I just watched The OA which was really awesome and I’m eagerly awaiting the Sense8 Christmas special!)

  4. Hi Wattle! I love the look of your new blog! Best of luck with your goals for 2017 ๐Ÿ™‚ And a big high 5 for a fellow Supernatural fan ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Happy Christmas!
